Not often do you see lectures taken in an interactive and fun-filled way in colleges. Fun adds a lot of value to learning as it creates interest in the students.

The POM lecture was one such fun filled beginning into the management arena.
“Aaj ki roti aaj hi kamaao” was the motto today.

Some of the lessons that I learnt from Prof. Prasad’s lectures are as follows:

1) Set realistic goals
Sometimes we are extremely high on confidence. This leads to setting high targets to compete and overtake peers. But settings unrealistic targets just for the sake of peer competition is fatal in many ways.

2) Gather necessary information and knowledge before taking decisions in an organization.
Having prior knowledge about the task at hand helps in the long run.So, gather as much information as you can, consult seniors and proceed accordingly.

3) Take all the stake holders into consideration while working towards your goal. Remember, you are also a stake holder in the organization.
The performance of organization is directly proportional to your careers growth and package.

4) Time and money is needed to grow and improve.
You should invest time in learning initially in an organization so that you are better equipped to handle assignments.

5) Employee welfare is vital.
Its the employees that make and complement and organization.Happy employees are more productive and this increases work output.

6) Organizational hierarchy helps to monitor processes and formulate solutions at each level.
Higher management has the relevant experience and knowledge to lead a team and suggest optimum changes.

7) Everybody has an important role to play in an organization.
We all invest precious time and labour into a project.I f we play our roles properly then targets are simpler to achieve.

8) Training and guidance from experienced people is a propellant for growth.
You should constantly update your skills given the volatility of the market.

9) Sometimes, change of roles is necessary.
In order to understand the problems of employees you need to sometimes step into their shoes.

10) Team work is the key towards achieving targets.
Synergy and co-ordination are vital in a team.A good team looks at problems as opportunities and challenges.

11) Client requirements’ understanding and customer relationship should be promoted.
Before you begin working on a task, communicate and discuss with the client and try to understand his expectations.

12) Invest time to improve and grow.
You must voluntarily seek new responsibilities and challenges.Continuous improvement is required in today's competitive world.

13) Raise the bar each time you take a new role.
Learn and improve.Make your strengths even stronger and try to eliminate your weaknesses.

14) Seek feedback
Customer feedback is needed for continuous improvement and defect prevention in future. This helps in building better reputation in market and better customer relationships.
